Shabbat, also known as the Sabbath, is the weekly day of rest in the Jewish calendar, celebrated from Friday evening at sundown until Saturday evening at sunset.
One of the beautiful Shabbat traditions is reciting a bracha (blessing) over the challah bread. Before this, we bless wine or grape juice. During that blessing, the challah is covered so as not to “embarrass” it, as it is blessed second.
